Residents, Family Members, and Friends;

As you know the laws are constantly changing in our Assisted Living and Memory Care community. Not only in our industry but all over the planet we have been forced to accept the new norm because of the pandemic. Back in March our community went into lockdown mode due to an emergency order created by the governor which prevented our residents from leaving the community, in addition to ceasing all visitations within the community. Over time the laws loosened up somewhat and in early September another emergency order was created to allow general visitations to happen once again but with restrictions. The guidelines for general visitations included:

• Only visitors (2 at a time) and up to a maximum of 5 family members (no one under the age of 18) per resident.
• Reservations were required (1 hour at a time).
• Health Screening at concierge with PPE remaining on at all times and keeping social distancing in mind within the privacy of the resident’s room.

Effective today, 10/14/2020 there is another policy that will be going into effect at Chateau Madeleine. The Executive Order states in part that residents leaving the community temporarily for medical appointments or other activities (not just essential medical visits) are allowed and resident must wear a face mask if tolerated by the resident’s condition. All residents must be screened upon return to the community.

All of our general visitation guidelines we have been doing since early September are still in full force and are not changing. The only thing that is changing is that residents are now allowed to leave the community providing they have a mask on and comply to social distancing guidelines while they are out. This can happen anytime, 7 days a week, and no reservations needed.

Again, I can not emphasize this any more than I am doing now. Just because residence are allowed to leave does not mean we have to be irresponsible! Whether you are a family member, resident, or friend, please keep in mind that we can not control where the resident is going. We can not control the social distancing. We need EVERYONE’S help to keep our residents safe! Be smart and use common sense. We have educated all of our residents about life outside the community, we have provided residents a free mask for outside, and advised them to treat everyone in public as if they were infected with the actual virus itself.

It is so important for everyone to be smart. While we are forced to follow the law and open the residents up to the outside world, I want to emphasize again the importance of safety. We have come so far. The virus still exists and can very much affect our community. Also keep in mind that our residents have been living in a safe bubble so even the smallest of sicknesses like the common cold can be threatening to our residents.

Our transportation is still available for doctor appointments but the option for family members taking residents to their appointments is now another option. No isolation will happen if you choose that route.

This is great news for our residents but it is also scary at the same time. I am confident that we will all be smart as a community (residents, and family members) and we will all be socially RESPONSIBLE!

COVID-19 FREE VISITATION UPDATE

Residents, Family Members, and Friends,

As you know the Governor has signed an executive order this morning allowing general visitations WITH restrictions to start back up. Please be patient as Chateau Madeleine’s administration puts together an official policy and procedure in preparation of opening our doors to these COVID-19 FREE, restricted visitations. We understand that everyone is anxious to get the doors back open to visit their loved ones, but until we can get our policy and procedures in place and approved we can not give out any further information.

The state is allowing up to FIVE family members to be listed as potential candidates to be part of these restricted visitations. Please make sure we have your correct information on file linked up to your resident to be able to participate in this restricted COVID-19 FREE restricted visitation. If you are already part of our LifeLoop app then you are already connected. No further action is required.

We will not start these new “COVID-19 FREE Restricted Visitations” until after Labor Day, so for now our current “Distant Visitations” at the dock will continue to go on until further notice. More details to follow in the coming days.

Family Members and Friends,

As we continue to ride out this COVID-19 (Coronavirus) I am happy to say that as of today (4/1/2020), all of our residents and staff are doing very, very well. We are continuing to keep our residents active inside as well as outside of the building while keeping the AHCA and CDC social distancing guidelines in place. We have also created more shaded areas outside by setting up outdoor fresh air tents throughout our resort styled campus. This only strengthens everyone’s mental well beings in a safe manner by having the ability to go outside even on hot sunny days.

Not only does Chateau have wonderful residents but I would like to recognize all of the amazing 92 staff members that work here at Chateau Madeleine. The attached picture is just a few of the amazing staff members we have which make it very easy for your family (our residents) including myself to call family. Rest assured that our team members are not going anywhere during these tough times. I have assured everyone that if they are an employee of Chateau Madeleine their job is safe! We are not doing any widespread layoffs! This only amplifies the family ties we all have here at Chateau Madeleine with our residents. I am proud to be part of such a wonderful team.

To Our Residents and Family Members:

We know you are concerned about the spread of COVID-19 (the new coronavirus) and how it may impact us at our Chateau Madeleine Community. Making sure residents are cared for in a safe and healthy environment is our top priority.

The Federal and State government has directed that we restrict all visitors and volunteers from visiting the community. This includes family and friends. This restriction is in effect until further notice. We are posting signs in entryways to notify visitors and actively screening individuals, including staff, who do need to enter the building.

We may only allow visitors for compassionate care reasons, such as end-of-life situations. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis. We will actively screen anyone who must visit for this purpose. Protective measures will be followed during these visits. If essential visitors have symptoms such as a fever, dry cough, or shortness of breath they will be restricted from entering the building.

We understand connecting with your loved ones is incredibly important. There are a variety of other ways to consider communicating including telephone, email, text, video chat or social media. We are happy to facilitate these methods of communication. I have created an email address (coronavirus@suntreeseniorliving.com for any questions or concerns that you may have about the protocols we have in place or the Coronavirus itself. We will be doing continuous updates via email blast, Facebook, and through our website (www.suntreeseniorliving.com).

I encourage anyone with a Facebook account to “like” Chateau Madeleine-Senior Living and Memory Care to get the latest and greatest event and pictures throughout this outbreak period.

For those that do not have Facebook we will be adding a Coronavirus Button to our website homepage to access those same events via the internet.

Another way of having a window into our community is by visiting www.chateauweekly.com to view current as well as past editions of our “Chateau Weekly.”

If anyone wants to arrange a conference call with their loved one please contact the concierge and we will set the meeting up with our several convenient mobile tablets that will be available around the community. Rest assured we will make it very easy for the residents.

We will stay up to date on the federal government’s recommendations as they most certainly will continue to change. Our Chateau Community along with our medical partners of Brevard Medical City are in close contact with the local and state health department and are also following their guidance.

Ensuring residents are cared for in a safe and healthy environment is our first priority. At this time, we don’t have any cases in our Chateau Madeleine. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have recommended a variety of steps that we are implementing to help reduce the potential for the virus to enter our building. However, we need your help in battling COVID-19. Below are some examples of how you can help protect the residents, as well as prevent the spread throughout the community.

At this time, we request that family and friends do not visit the community. Out of an abundance of caution, we are limiting all visitors to our community unless absolutely necessary. We are posting signs on our entryway doors to notify visitors of this policy and actively screening individuals, including staff, who need to come into the building.

We understand that connecting with your loved ones is incredibly important, and there are a variety of other ways you might consider communicating with them. These may include telephone, email, text, video chat or social media. If you believe a visit to the center is necessary, we request that you contact the administration office at 321-701-8000 or via email at Administration@SuntreeSeniorLiving.com prior to your arrival.

Please make sure we have your most current, emergency contact information. We want to make sure we efficiently communicate with you should there be any new developments. Please reach out to the administration office at 321-701-8000 or via email at Administration@SuntreeSeniorLiving.com with your updated contact information.

Residents, please help prevent the spread of infection by exercising proper hand washing hygiene as well as coughing and sneezing etiquette. We offer hand washing and alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations throughout the building, which you are welcome to use. Please also avoid shaking hands and hugs with any individual. If you are experiencing a cough, fever, sore throat, runny nose, and/or shortness of breath, please let a staff member know immediately.

Our community is following the recommendations of the CDC on prevention steps, including following strict handwashing procedures, and in many circumstances, wearing gowns and gloves when interacting with residents who present symptoms. We also are staying up to date with the CDC recommendations as they may continue to change. In addition, our community is in close contact with the local and state health department, and we are following their guidance.

Residents, Family Members, and Friends;

It is very sad what is happening with the Corona Virus today. I am sure many of you ponder about what it would be like if Brevard county had a widespread outbreak?

The question is not IF but WHEN? Its also very unfortunate that the media is only helping the mass hysteria and panic by showing the “fist fights” in Walmart for toilet paper, the price gouging on amazon for $250+ on small amounts of alcohol sanitizer, along with many other ridiculous events.

We may not be able to promise you an immediate cure on the Coronavirus, but I can comfortably tell you that with these upcoming protocols I have created we will in turn help our community stay safe regardless if Brevard County has an outbreak of Coronavirus.

Many nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area have already transformed into a lockdown status which translates to “NO family members can go in or out of the community whatsoever.” The problem is, you still have an open gap with the employees working there. They are still able to come into work from the outside. It also creates a widespread panic and depression throughout the community. We at Chateau are doing things differently. We are taking that extra step to keep everyone safe without the above issues.

Below are just a few protocols that we are putting into place to make Chateau one of the safest communities in the county:

(1) Installation of extra sanitation stations all throughout the community.

(2) By educating the residents and staff members on how to properly wash their hands and how to properly sanitize their hands.

(3) By doing extra sanitation and cleaning procedures in almost every single department including but not limiting to the way the following areas are cleaned; all common areas, door knobs, elevators, railings, common areas touched by many people in a day, and even the Trams and Vans. Also our food and beverage team is adding many extra food preparation protocols that will ensure an added safety level to protect what we eat.

(4) By implementing a health screen station in the lobby and laser temperature testing “EVERYONE” that enters. All people checked in will receive a certain color sticker which will change daily so everyone can see who is safe and has been health screened and temperature checked. Safe means the visitor has been temperature checked and is below the 100.4 degree threshold of the CDC.

(5) Implementing a daily temperature screening for all internal staff members by the corresponding department heads of each department. If the employee is deemed healthy holding a temperature below 100.4 degrees the employee will receive a color sticker just like the visitors. This will ensure everyone feels safer throughout the day. This will also keep our home protected from unwanted germs and viruses.

(6) By encouraging employees to stay home if they are sick because it will be known they would not pass the employee screening we will have in place.

Again our Chateau Family is taking this virus very serious and I personally…can honestly say we will be one of the safest places in the county once all of these protocols go into effect by the end of this week.

Chateau will also continuously stay in contact with the latest and greatest news of the CDC. Anytime there are new developments we will continue to update the residents and family members. Rest assured we are preparing for the worst. Leave the worrying to us. You are in good hands.
